Murphy's Ibiza

About Murphy's

Murphy’s started business in Playa den Bossa in 1991 with, what would turn out to be the magic formula, Live Music.

At that time in the area where Murphy’s is located (today the heart of the “strip” of Playa den Bossa), there were only a few small typical local bars (there wasn’t even public street lighting in the area). Murphy’s then was the first live music venue in Playa den Bossa.

Since 1991

Since the opening in that distant month of May 1991, powered by the charismatic Irish musician Dave Banks and his fantastic band, Murphy’s had an enthusiastic reception, one could say almost extraordinary, from all types of audience: tourists of all nationalities, residents from all over the island, etc. His music and our atmosphere, quickly became a benchmark and our reputation went way beyond our borders. From the first day, thanks to the quality of the musicians who made up the band and the incomparable voice of Dave Banks, masterfully playing Irish songs, Scottish, folk, etc. and with a complete repertoire of the the great international hits that we all cherished, our success with the public was overwhelming.

The Metamorphoshis

One of the things most worth mentioning about the atmosphere at Murphy’s from day one (and that still continues today), is the cosmopolitan character of our clients; our audience is made up by people of all ages and every imaginable nationality including, of course, Spanish and Ibicencos. With the passing of the years and the new development and changes in the Playa den Bossa area, and in spite of the fact that in 2014 we changed from live music to DJs, Murphy’s has never ceased to be a temple of good music and atmosphere.

This metamorphosis has hatched successfully (again) as a rebirth. The new Murphy’s we know today offers: unique decor, a great party atmosphere with music that suits all tastes, entertainment with acrobatic artists and unique cocktails. In short, once again a flagship, that visitors to Playa den Bossa do not want to miss. Today we could re-hang that poster which presided over the door for more than 20 years saying “There are no strangers here, just friends you have yet to meet.”

More than 25 years making history .
